Heads-Up: History-making Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and Do Not Disturb star Jerry O’Connell will be providing hosting duties tonight when weekend television’s two late-night series return to open new seasons.
Tune in to NBC’s Saturday Night Live, back for Season 34 (!), at 11:29pm EST to catch Phelps in action and Fox’s MADtv, now on its 14th season, at 11pm EST for O’Connell.

As previously reported, veteran comedian and television director Dick Martin passed away last Saturday at age 86. One-half of the inspiration for the 1968–1973 variety comedy series Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, Martin has a permanent place in television history, along with his co-host and former comedy partner Dan Rowan.

RIP: ‘Laugh-In’ Comedy Veteran Dick Martin

Dick Martin, one-half of the duo that brought Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In to television viewers from 1968 to 1973, passed away of respiratory complications in Santa Monica, California, on Saturday. He was 86.
Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In, which Martin co-hosted with fellow nightclub comedian Dan Rowan, got its start as an NBC special that aired in September 1967. Intended as a one-time television event, the special was developed into a series after it delivered impressive ratings.
