‘Scare Tactics’ Season Three Sneak Peek

July 6, 2008 by Chandra

Tracy Morgan/Scare TacticsIt’s coming! It’s coming!

There’s a reason why 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan hosts Sci Fi Channel’s reality series Scare Tactics, which premieres its third season at 10pm next Wednesday, July 9, with a double feature of “Satan’s Baby” and “3:10 to Hell.” The reason is it’s so darn funny watching duped people react in terror to a fake horror situation that a comedian makes the perfect ringmaster. Cheesy McPleezy all the way.

Since I was one of the people who somehow lucked out and received an advance screener of the upcoming spooky fun, I’ll post a few thoughts later on. Right now, sneak a peek at “Satan’s Baby” in the two-minute clip after the jump.

If you wait until the very end, you’ll actually get to see what the Devil’s offspring looks like. Really. They deliver the spawn right there on-screen.

30 Rock: Previews for Tonight’s Season Finale ‘Cooter’

May 8, 2008 by Chandra

Tina Fey/30 Rock 2.15
What can you say about the word “cooter” except “Luv it!”?

Okay — maybe that’s just me. But, I’m still looking forward to tonight’s 30 Rock second-season finale “Cooter,” if not for the funny title, then for the slew of guest stars. They are the fantastic Dean Winters, Edie Falco, Matthew Broderick, and Paul Scheer.

In honor of the special occasion, NBC has made four preview clips available, all of which can be viewed after the jump.

30 Rock airs Thursdays on NBC at 9:31pm EST.

30 Rock: 2.13 ‘Succession’ Recap

April 29, 2008 by Chandra

30 Rock
Original Air Date: April 24, 2008

It’s a great time to be JACK when his boss DON GEISS informs him that although Jack’s main competitor to succeed Geiss, DEVIN BANKS, is about to marry into Geiss’ family, the older man still intends to present Jack to the board as his choice to take over his position as chairman of GE. Now Jack has to pick someone he trusts to take over his own position when he’s officially promoted.

The obvious choice quickly becomes LIZ when she stages a fake make-out session with Devin in front of the elevator security camera. Devlin tricks her into confessing that she was the one who sold GE to the Germans when Jack left her in charge while he was off with his girlfriend C.C. To prevent Devin from telling, Liz plants her tongue right in his face, to his great dismay since it’s clear he still likes men, no matter how much he tries to pretend he’s “cured.”

This act convinces Jack that Liz should be his trusted successor, but she balks at first. She thinks she’s a creative person and not exactly executive material … until Jack reveals her potential salary. That’s enough to inspire Liz to tell her writing staff to suck it. She even performs very well during a drunken executive dinner, spearheading the Button Classic Campaign when she suggests GE stop researching alternatives for a new microwave button.

Things rapidly go downhill during Devin’s bachelor party on the set of TGS, however. Jack expresses sympathy when he notices Devin looking despondent and learns Geiss has already told Devin he has chosen Jack as the next GE chairman.

30 Rock: ‘Cooter’ Spoilers (5-8-08)

April 20, 2008 by Chandra

30 Rock
Am I the only one who immediately thinks “cooties” when they hear the name “Cooter”? I hope not because that would be pretty darn sad.

Yes, 30 Rock’s May 8 second-season finale is called “Cooter,” and the title is actually a character’s name. It helps a bit that the actor in that role is talented Matthew Broderick, who’ll play an ally of Jack’s when he starts a new job in the nation’s Capitol.

First-rate guest stars Dean Winters, Edie Falco, and Paul Scheer will also make appearances during plotlines revolving around some unnerving news for Liz, Jack’s job plight, and Kenneth’s quest to participate in the Summer Olympics in Beijing.

30 Rock airs Thursdays on NBC at 9:31pm EST.

30 Rock: ‘Sandwich Day’ Spoilers (5-1-08)

April 18, 2008 by Chandra

30 Rock
Yet more guest stars abound on the May 1 episode of 30 Rock, this time Jason Sudeikis, who plays Liz Lemon’s ex-boyfriend, and Brian Dennehy, a personal favorite of mine who portrays a union leader who gets into a conflict with Liz’s crew.

The problems start on “Sandwich Day” when someone has the audacity to steal from Liz during the annual event, inspiring a few TGS staffers to demand action from Dennehy’s character Mickey J.

There’s also bad news for Jack when events lead to a career crisis of sorts.

30 Rock airs Thursdays on NBC at 9:31pm EST.

30 Rock: ‘Succession’ Spoilers (4-24-08)

April 18, 2008 by Chandra

30 Rock
It seems like 30 Rock has more star power than any of the other Thursday-night sitcoms on NBC these days. I offer as incontrovertible evidence the April 24 episode, “Succession,” which will feature three stellar guest stars alone: Chris Parnell, Rip Torn, and Will Arnett.

The main plot concerns bossman Jack, who initially gets a big career boost from his own boss Don Geiss (Torn) that rubs off on Liz. Unfortunately, things change unexpectedly, resulting in a very different professional outlook for both Jack and Liz.

30 Rock airs Thursdays on NBC at 9:31pm EST.

30 Rock: ‘Subway Hero’ Spoilers (4-17-08)

April 17, 2008 by Chandra

30 Rock
Both Dean Winters and Tim Conway guest star on the April 17 episode of 30 Rock, the first of whom returns as Liz Lemon’s ex-boyfriend Dennis, also known as “The Beeper King.”

The title of the episode, “Subway Hero,” refers to the nickname Dennis receives after a heroic act. Conway plays a TV star of old who makes his way to 30 Rock when Jack goes on the hunt for a celebrity to become the face of a Republican event.

30 Rock airs Thursdays on NBC at 8:30pm EST.

30 Rock: 2.11 ‘MILF Island’ Recap

April 13, 2008 by Chandra

30 Rock
Original Air Date: April 10, 2008

Of MILFs and Poo

LIZ walks into the writers’ room to find everyone wrapped up in the season finale of reality series MILF Island, which pits hot moms against one another on an island ruled by eighth-grade boys. The series is so dangerous, one MILF died when she drank too much champagne before falling into some quicksand.

KENNETH enters with the newspaper and a problem. Instead of finding the article Liz requested, he found bossman JACK making the Page Six gossip column. Apparently, an employee dished that Jack, who’s up for the GE chairmanship promotion, is a “Class A moron” who can “eat [their] poo.” Ew! Liz just wants the culprit to know she’s not taking the fall for their loose lips.

Money Versus Integrity

In the hallway on her way to Jack’s office, Liz passes by PETE, who soon gets stuck in a vending machine while trying to reach a dangling soy snack without paying. He remains stuck the entire episode and misses the MILF Island season-finale conclusion as a result.

Jack is wrapped up in the MILF Island episode, too. In fact, he wants Liz to meet with one of the MILFs, an aspiring actress named DEBORAH who has demonstrated great promise during the season, in order to helm a spinoff for her.

Comedy Talk: ‘30 Rock’ Star Tracy Morgan on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

April 10, 2008 by Chandra

Tracy Morgan/30 Rock
30 Rock star and Saturday Night Live alum Tracy Morgan dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live at the end of March to shoot the breeze with a fellow comic while pushing his current TV show and recently released spoof flick Superhero Movie.

Enjoy the two-part interview after the jump. If you stick around for the duration, you’ll even get to watch a clip from the film, which features Morgan as Professor Xavier, a send-up of Patrick Stewart’s Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men trilogy. (And, Morgan keeps his shirt on this time, too.)

30 Rock: ‘MILF Island’ Spoilers (4-10-08)

April 5, 2008 by Chandra

30 Rock
Thursday, April 10, NBC’s signature comedy lineup will return in full form. The first sitcom of the night with fresh episodes and fresh off of a Peabody Award win is 30 Rock, of course.

On “MILF Island,” a new reality series of the same name has bossman Jack Donaghy absolutely thrilled over its success … that is, until a popular gossip column reveals an employee has been talking smack about him. Jack being Jack, he then becomes obsessed with outing the disloyal underling.

30 Rock airs Thursdays on NBC at 8:30pm EST.
