Comedy Talk: Patricia Heaton Hooks the Ladies of ‘The View’
May 7, 2008 by Chandra

And, yes, the word “hook” in the title is a reference to Back to You star Patricia Heaton’s infamous remark on The View Monday morning that female anchors on the West Coast of the United States have a striking resemblance to hookers, what with their gigantic hoop earrings and all. I personally wouldn’t know, though, since I’m strictly straight-up East Coast.
During her turn on the couch with Barbara, Joy, Elisabeth, Whoopie, and Sherri (the ladies were out in full force!), Heaton also discussed what she did to celebrate turning the big 5-0 on March 4. She made plans for the monumental event during the writers’ strike, inviting four of her girlfriends on a fun vacation, where they did stuff like kayak with the whales and watch 27 Dresses while in bed together. The last part probably wasn’t as titillating as it sounds.
Check out the interview after the jump, and don’t forget to catch Back to You tonight at 8:30pm EST, too.
Comedy Talk: David Schwimmer and Thandie Newton Dish on ‘The View’
March 27, 2008 by Chandra

Remember David Schwimmer from NBC’s phenomenally popular sitcom Friends? Well, the former Dr. Ross Geller has been focusing more on directing than acting these days, and he has a new movie that I must see premiering this Friday, March 28.
The name of the British — yes, British — comedy production is Run Fatboy Run, and it has an outstanding cast helmed by hilarious Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Mission Impossible III, Shaun of the Dead, the forthcoming Star Trek flick) and drop-dead gorgeous Thandie Newton (ER, Crash, Mission Impossible II).
Newton recently accompanied Schwimmer on one of the most enjoyable interview segments I’ve seen on The View, which isn’t really saying much since I’m not a daytime talk show fan in the least. All the same, I have a clip of the appearance after the jump that I encourage comedy fans to check out.
Who knew Newton was such a prankster? Who even knew she talks so much? Make sure to listen to the very end to see what I mean, and you’ll probably be surprised to find out what the actress did to her poor co-star Pegg. It’s too much.
I can’t wait until Pegg starts making the interview rounds stateside, too, because he’s a true natural when it comes to the funny stuff. I’ll make sure to post available clips of him here, as well.

Comedy Talk: UNICEF Ambassador Lucy Liu Promotes World Water Day
March 20, 2008 by Chandra

It’s highly possible that Charlie’s Angels, Kill Bill, and Ally McBeal star Lucy Liu won’t return to television on ABC’s underwhelming rich-chicks-with-problems series Cashmere Mafia, which many people, including me, believe will/should be canceled.
Fortunately, the beautiful actress has other things to keep her busy, though. As a Global Ambassador for UNICEF (the United Nations Children’s Fund), Liu was all over ABC Wednesday morning, appearing on both The Martha Stewart Show and The View.
The main focus of her visits was to help promote her latest humanitarian efforts regarding today’s World Water Day 2008. The annual one-day initiative, first observed in 1993, emerged from the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, and this year’s theme is sanitation.
I learned a while ago that Martha Stewart’s show isn’t a good source of brief video clips since the household wiz has guests tackling all sorts of homemaking activities that take forever to finish. Consequently, the interview excerpted after the jump comes from The View, where Liu explains how participating restaurants will play a crucial role in today’s objectives.
Instead of automatically offering water free of charge with meals, some eating establishments will ask diners to donate $1. According to Liu, that tiny amount is enough to provide forty children in Africa and other deprived regions with clean water for an entire day. So, if you eat out today, remember to determine if your chosen eatery is involved with this very worthy cause.
Now on to the clip and Liu…
Comedy Talk: Judy Greer Is Terrific
March 18, 2008 by Chandra

Did you catch Judy Greer of ABC’s Miss/Guided on The View this morning? She came across as so genuinely nice, I’m looking forward to her new show even more than I was previously.
The actress — who has been in over 35 films and television shows, according to one co-host — discussed several interesting subjects. For anyone who’s familiar with her career, there’s the obvious fact that she often plays a supporting character, such as a best friend of the star in both 13 Going on 30 and 27 Dresses. Greer was also a ballet dancer for a long time, and terrible at it, she says.
The best part of the interview is when she talks about a very nice thing that Miss/Guided executive producer Ashton Kutcher did for her and her father. It made me and I’m sure just about everyone watching go, “Awww. Ain’t that sweeeet!” Greer really deserves this chance to shine in a leading role, so I hope the series becomes a winner for her.
Check out the Miss/Guided star’s appearance after the jump.
Comedy Talk: Lucy Liu Chats with Dave
January 8, 2008 by Chandra

Looks like the late-night talk shows resumed just in time to snag guests from the casts of the paltry season’s few new series. Cashmere Mafia fans are in luck today because star Lucy Liu has a date with Dave on the Late Show with David Letterman.
As her innumerable admirers know, Liu has enjoyed incredible success in both film (Lucky Number Slevin, Domino, Kill Bill, Charlie’s Angels) and television (Ugly Betty, Ally McBeal, ER). Don’t forget to tune in tonight to find out what’s been going on with one of entertainment’s most versatile actresses besides her latest ABC dramedy.
Tomorrow morning, you can also catch another famous actress who helmed a couple of classic comedy television series. Current L Word recurring cast member and former Cybill and Moonlighting star Cybill Shepherd will be on hand to talk shop with the ladies of The View, along with her talented L Word co-star Jennifer Beals. Flashdance, anyone? (And, yes, I still love that movie.)
