Breaking Bad: ‘Phoenix’ in Photos

Bryan Cranston/Breaking Bad 2.12

Holiday or not — tomorrow, May 25, is the national holiday Memorial Day in the United States — AMC plans to go on with the show tonight when it comes to its breakout hit Breaking Bad. I don’t blame the network in the least. When a show is this darn good it needs to come on no matter what, not to mention that the Season Two finale is just one week away.

During the next-to-last second-season episode “Phoenix,” the latest adventures of industrious drug-making high school chemistry teacher Walt White find his family expanding as his also hard-working son Walt Jr. starts a website to help out financially.

On the ever darkening Jesse side, not only does the poor guy’s addiction grow worse, but his relationship with Jane (Krysten Ritter) causes problems with his drug partner Walt and Donald, as well.

Preview photos for the episode follow the jump. I call this typically gloomy collection “The Many Faces of Walt White,” with a little Hank Schrader in the final image.

Breaking Bad: ‘Mandala’ in Photos

Bryan Cranston/Breaking Bad 2.11

Ten episodes down, just three episodes left to go in this excellent Breaking Bad second season.

During tonight’s (May 17) fresh hour “Mandala,” the eleventh episode of the season, Saul suggests a new associate when Walt and Jesse’s crew of drug dealers starts losing members. Also, Skyler lets it all out with Ted after she learns something on the disturbing side at work, and things get perilous between Jesse and Jane after he finally tells her what he really does to pay the rent.

Now please join me in giving a nice, loud shout out to very special guest star Giancarlo Esposito (Homicide: Life on the Street, Do the Right Thing, Miami Vice), as well as Christopher Cousins, Sam McMurray, Bob Odenkirk, and Krysten Ritter. Incidentally, Mr. Esposito shall grace Breaking Bad with his ginormous talent again during the May 31 season finale “ABQ.” That’s a big “Mwah!” from AMC to you.

Bryan Cranston/Breaking Bad 2.10

It’s all about family — problems, that is — on “Over,” the Sunday, May 10th episode of AMC’s Breaking Bad.

After Walt and Hank have a heated argument at a party the Whites throw to thank friends and family for their recent support during his illness, Walt becomes obsessed with home-improvement projects.

Meanwhile, Skyler feels emotional and conflicted about Walt’s treatment, issues she shares with her boss Ted, and Jesse’s landlady Jane hides her relationship with the drug dealer from her father.

Follow the jump to sneak a peek at the episode in photos. I wonder what exactly the title refers to as being “over”…

Breaking Bad: ‘4 Days Out’ Preview

May 2, 2009 by Chandra

Aaron Paul, Bryan Cranston/Breaking Bad 2.09

Next up on AMC’s Breaking Bad is tomorrow’s (May 3) episode “4 Days Out.” Don’tcha just love it when they pull out and put on those gas masks? Makes you think all kinds of trippy stuff.

Life gets a bit more intense than usual as Walt and his family await the results of his most recent PET-CT scan and news about the progress of his cancer treatment. Typically pessimistic, Walt decides to follow Saul’s advice to cook as much meth as possible in his remaining days just in case the worst outcome happens.

That decision also impacts Jesse and his deepening relationship with Jane when Walt informs his “drug buddy” they must head back out to the desert for a marathon meth cookout. Sounds hot, literally.

A few preview photos follow the jump, as well as a sneak peek featuring Jesse receiving an unwelcome call from Walt regarding their need to pack up the ol’ RV and get cooking.

‘Chuck’ Wedding: Isn’t the Bride Lovely?

April 17, 2009 by Chandra

The wedding pictures are in, and doesn’t Chuck’s sister Ellie look absolutely stunning? I mean, aside from her thoroughly frustrated expression?

Sarah Lancaster/Chuck 2.22

Chuck Versus the Ring,” the big wedding episode — which also doubles as Chuck’s second-season finale — doesn’t air until Monday, April 27. Another new episode, “Chuck Versus the Colonel,” airs the preceding Monday, April 20. Yet, early finale preview photos show cast members all dolled up for the nuptials of Doctors Eleanor Bartowski and Devon Woodcomb.

Breaking Bad: ‘Negro y Azul’ in Photos

Aaron Paul, Bryan Cranston/Breaking Bad 2.07

The upcoming Sunday, April 19th episode of AMC’s Breaking Bad is called “Negro y Azul,” which is Spanish for “Black and Blue.” Does that mean somebody will be bringing on the pain?

Could be. The central plot revolves around Jesse and Walt’s contemplation of dealing drugs in additional areas, while Hank has a hard time on the job in his new El Paso location, Skyler returns to work, and Jesse gets cozy with his landlord Jane.

In addition to Krysten Ritter, who plays the rent lady, prolific actor Danny Trejo (King of the Hill, Grindhouse) makes a special guest-star appearance as Tortuga.

Breaking Bad: ‘Peekaboo’ Preview

April 12, 2009 by Chandra

Bryan Cranston/Breaking Bad 2.06

Up tonight on AMC’s award-winning Breaking Bad is the episode “Peekaboo,” which was co-written by series creator and X-Files veteran Vince Gilligan.

Lucky Walt goes back to work teaching chemistry, while Jesse has to deal with Skinny Pete, who was ripped off at knife-point. Yet, as things tend to go on the series, Jesse ends up biting off more than he expected.

Follow the jump for a few preview photos and a sneak peek, the second of which features Skinny Pete meeting Jesse to deliver the name and address of the couple that robbed him. That Pete is one haggard dude and an excellent deterrent: “Just say no to drugs or you’ll end up looking like me.”

Reese Returns on ‘Life’ Season Finale

April 8, 2009 by Chandra

Damian Lewis/Life 2.21

It’s been nice watching Damian Lewis’ Detective Charlie Crews partner with guest star Gabrielle Union’s Detective Jane Seever, but I’m sure other fans will be as thrilled as I am that Sarah Shahi’s Detective Dani Reese is back big time during tonight’s Season Two Life finale “One.”

Also dropping by for a little criminal intrigue is Terminator: The Sarah Chronicles regular Garret Dillahunt, who reprises his recurring role as Crews’ supremely evil nemesis, Russian crook Roman Nevikov. Just how evil is Nevikov?

Rescue Me: Michael J. Fox in Premiere ‘Baptism’

April 6, 2009 by Chandra

Denis Leary/Rescue Me

Season Five of FX’s firefighter dramedy Rescue Me finally kicks off tomorrow night, April 7, at 10pm ET with the premiere “Baptism.”

Onboard as the central guest star is Family Ties and Spin City icon Michael J. Fox, who plays Janet’s latest man-friend and the predictable root of much consternation for Tommy, who’s still dealing with his father Michael’s (Charles Durning) death in the fourth-season finale “Yaz.”

Follow the jump for a few preview photos of the season opener featuring the show’s very special newcomer. The best thing of all? Fans have 22 fifth-season episodes, extending into September six months from now, to enjoy once Rescue Me is officially back in action. Kinda makes the 19-month wait worth it.
