The Bill Engvall Show: Season Finale Spoilers (8-7-08)

August 5, 2008 by Chandra

The Bill Engvall ShowThe Bill Engvall Show will wrap up its second season on August 7 with two episodes, “A Reptile Dysfunction” and “PromZilla,” airing from 9pm EST until 10pm.

On the first episode, Trent and Bryan are put in charge of Paul’s pet iguana while their sister Lauren starts working for a mean boss at the mall in order to buy an expensive purse.

Then, on the finale, Bill refuses to let Lauren buy an expensive prom dress, and Trent does his darnedest to become an Internet celebrity by putting together his very own online video. If he succeeds, I can’t think of a better or easier way to give his straight-and-narrow parents matching heart attacks.

The sneak peek after the jump is from the first episode, “A Reptile Dysfunction.”

The Bill Engvall Show: 2.8 ‘Dream Lover’ Recap

August 3, 2008 by Chandra

The Bill Engvall ShowOriginal Air Date: July 31, 2008

Susan really takes her dreams seriously on this episode of The Bill Engvall Show, probably because, she claims, the last two times she had similar dreams, they came true. First her friend was left at the altar on her wedding day and then her uncle died of an unexpected heart attack.

The second past event makes Susan start pestering Bill to get a physical, and he eventualy does after a bit of resistance due to his fears of dying and learning something is wrong. On the other hand, her latest dream — Bill has an affair with a woman named Penelope — makes her believe her husband is going to commit adultery.

That superstitious reading seems to gather some traction when a woman named Penelope calls the house and asks for Bill. What Susan doesn’t realize is the woman is just a waitress, and she’s calling to inform Bill he left his credit card behind at the restaurant where he and Paul had lunch earlier. Desperate Paul is the one who’s really interested in Penelope, even after she informs Bill and Susan, who returns to the restaurant with Bill at his suggestion so she can see nothing is going on, that she’s engaged.

The Bill Engvall Show: ‘Dream Lover’ Spoilers (7-31-08)

July 31, 2008 by Chandra

The Bill Engvall ShowJust so you know — I wasn’t holding out on fans of The Bill Engvall Show. It actually took TBS a long time this week to post a sneak peek for the show’s July 31 episode, “Dream Lover.”

After a dream that she believes is a premonition, Susan gets the idea that her husband Bill is going to begin having an affair with a woman specifically named Penelope, and her fear increases when Bill encounters a waitress who has the exact same fairly uncommon name. Maybe it’s just me, but Bill doesn’t seem like the adulterer type in any way, shape, or form, so I’m confident all of this anxiety is over nothing.

Meanwhile, Susan is also preoccupied with Bill seeing a doctor for a physical, and Trent is focused on finally getting a driver’s license.

The sneak peek after the jump shows Susan and Bill having a nice, long, heated (for them, at least) chat.

The Bill Engvall Show: ‘Snoop, Dog’ Spoilers (7-24-08)

July 22, 2008 by Chandra

The Bill Engvall ShowIt looks like the elder Pearsons are going high-tech on “Snoop, Dog,” the July 24 episode of The Bill Engvall Show.

When Bill and Susan suspect that Trent has lied to them about alcohol being served at a party he attended, they nose around his Facebook page to dig up some dirt.

In other doggy developments, the family pet Raffles takes a liking to the house of perpetually irritable neighbor Mr. Faulkner, and he hides underneath it after a noise scares him. The only problem is the dog then refuses to come back out.

Get a preview of the episode after the jump. As the video clearly shows, more Cynthia Watros is also in the house.

The Bill Engvall Show: ‘Bill Talks a Good Game’ Spoilers (7-17-08)

July 15, 2008 by Chandra

The Bill Engvall ShowVery special guest star Cynthia Watros is indeed back on the The Bill Engvall Show for at least two episodes, including this one, July 17’s “Bill Talks a Good Game.”

The main plot revolves around poor Bill, who is dismayed to discover that his middle child Trent can beat him at baseball. Of course, the reality sends him into a funk over his increasing age.

Meanwhile, Susan experiences a little jealousy of her own when her best friend AJ (Watros) bonds with Lauren. As a result, Susan becomes determined to bond better with her daughter, too.

The sneak peek below features Tim Meadows, who also makes an appearance on the episode. He’s really showing up a lot this season, which is a good thing, in my opinion.

The Bill Engvall Show airs Thursdays on TBS at 9pm EST.

The Bill Engvall Show: 2.5 ‘Susan’s Best Friend’ Recap

July 14, 2008 by Chandra

The Bill Engvall ShowOriginal Air Date: July 10, 2008

Yay! It looks like fans of The Bill Engvall Show can look forward to more of actress Cynthia Watros in the near future. I knew it was nothing but good when I learned she’d been cast for a guest-star appearance. Read on to learn why she’ll be sticking around (I hope and think) for at least another episode.

True to the series’ intentional family-friendly format, this one was another simply plotted episode: Bill becomes self-conscious about the state of his marriage when Susan’s free-living best friend AJ (Watros) pays the Pearsons a visit for the first time in four years. AJ arrives in her so-called vanabago — a cross between a van and Winnebago — after a split from her most recent significant other.

The bad blood between AJ and Bill goes all the way back to when Bill and Susan first hooked up. The friends used to pretend they were French to meet guys, and on Bill and Susan’s honeymoon, AJ tried to fix Susan up with a hot stud who was actually more interested in Bill. Bill is still smarting many years later over AJ’s obvious disapproval of the safe life he offers Susan.

Since AJ is the type of spontaneous, adventurous woman who likes to do unusual things, the kids love her. She even convinces Susan to go out Salsa dancing with her after 9:15pm one night, which is a time when Bill thinks only “drug dealers and jazz musicians” roam the streets. But when AJ informs Bill that his marriage is stuck in a “box,” Bill refuses to believe her.

The Bill Engvall Show: ‘Susan’s Best Friend’ Spoilers (7-10-08)

July 10, 2008 by Chandra

The Bill Engvall ShowOh, yeah — there’s god stuff coming up this week on The Bill Engvall Show.

The July 10 episode is called “Susan’s Best Friend,” and TV fans will be very happy to know that the title friend is played by one of the most talented actresses around, namely Cynthia Watros, formerly of Lost and The Drew Carey Show, to name just a few examples.

Watros’ erratic character is named AJ, and she arrives at the Pearsons’ home following a divorce. Unfortunately for easily influenced Bill, AJ’s presence soon causes him to start thinking that his marriage is in the throes of stagnation, which leads him to go above and beyond his normal boundaries to heat it back up. Uh-oh.

Take a look at the following sneak peek for the episode.

The Bill Engvall Show airs Thursdays on TBS at 9pm EST.

The Bill Engvall Show: 2.4 ‘Pineblock Derby’ Recap

July 5, 2008 by Chandra

The Bill Engvall ShowOriginal Air Date: July 3, 2008

This episode of The Bill Engvall Show features two main storylines: (1) When Bill is unable to construct a pineblock derby car for Bryan, Paul creates one as blackmail to get Bill’s support on the homeowners association so he can replace his lawn with artificial grass, and (2) Lauren schemes to prevent her new ultra popular friend Erica from hooking up with Trent.

It’s time for Bryan’s Leopard Scout troop to hold their annual pineblock derby race, and Bryan needs a car capable of beating his rival’s. Bill assures his son he can build one, but of course, he’s not actually skilled enough.

Paul realizes this when he stops by to visit and tell Bill about his plans to replace his natural lawn with artificial grass in order to get rid of bugs, which he hates. When Bill informs Paul he must first get approval from the neighborhood board for such work, Paul gets an idea.

He constructs a perfect car to replace the crappy ones Bill keeps building in exchange for Bill’s support. Bill doesn’t want to go along with the ruse, but when Bryan assumes Bill built the car and gets overjoyed, Bill can’t let him down either by revealing the truth.

The Bill Engvall Show: 2.3 ‘No Gifts, Please’ Preview

June 25, 2008 by Chandra

The Bill Engvall ShowTo refresh everybody’s memory, “No Gifts, Please,” the June 26th episode of The Bill Engvall Show, is all about the senior Pearsons’ attempts to pretend they don’t want gifts on the occasion of their 19th anniversary.

But, of course, they’re both lying, to themselves and each other, which causes inevitable complications, the biggest one a result of the presents they eventually exchange anyway. Take a look at the preview clip below for a sneak peek, which goes a long way towards demonstrating the basic problem.

Oh, and let’s not forget the children, or namely middle child Trent, who has an issue with getting up in the morning early enough to go to school on time. The dilemma then becomes a predicament for the entire family, in typical Pearson fashion.

The Bill Engvall Show airs Thursdays on TBS at 9pm EST.
