Comedy Talk: Neil Patrick Harris Works Magic on Regis and Kelly

How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris — who plays Barney Stinson, my second favorite character on the show after Robin Scherbatsky — dropped by Live with Regis and Kelly this morning to talk up his CBS sitcom and his forthcoming big-screen comedy sequel Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.
After performing a brief magic trick for the awed and amazed hosts, the amateur magician confirmed that How I Met Your Mother has not been renewed for another season yet — I honestly don’t know what CBS is waiting for — before moving on to the new movie.
As in the first flick, which did a nice job stealing a piece of the pop-culture pie for itself, Harris plays an “extreme version of himself.” To prove it, he brought along a clip where his character tries to help Harold and Kumar escape their oppressors.
Apparently, the latter two stoner idiots end up at notorious Guantanamo Bay after attempting to sneak dope into Amsterdam. I guess they learned nothing when they had such a hard time going to White Castle.

Comedy Talk: Tom Cavanagh Chats with Regis and Megan
March 30, 2008 by Chandra

Talented Canadian actor Tom Cavanagh (Eli Stone, Scrubs, Love Monkey, Ed) stopped by Live with Regis and Kelly last week on the same day that Emmy-winning Will & Grace star Megan Mullally filled in for Regis Philbin’s customary co-host Kelly Ripa.
Cavanagh has a gripping original mini-series called The Capture of the Green River Killer premiering on the Lifetime Movie Network tonight. The based-on-fact plot revolves around the notorious case of Gary Ridgeway, one of the deadliest serial killers in the history of the United States who’s credited with murdering over seventy people. Ridgeway was finally captured and convicted after a two-decade manhunt, and he is now imprisoned at Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, Washington.
The state’s current congressman, David Reichart, was an integral force in the investigation that targeted Ridgeway. Cavanagh plays Reichart in the mini-series, which is a far cry from the actor’s familiar sitcom and dramedy gigs.
Take a look at the interview following the jump to hear more about the mini-series and to see a clip from it. Although the first part airs tonight at 8pm EST, Monday night’s conclusion at the same time will be preceded by an encore of the opening half. Both parts will then repeat again on Tuesday, April 1, from 10am to 2pm.

Comedy Talk: Alyssa Milano Is a ‘Wisegal’ with Regis and Kelly
March 16, 2008 by Chandra

Who’s the Boss?, Charmed, and My Name Is Earl actress Alyssa Milano is taking a walk over to the dark-drama side tonight in an encore of the based-on-fact Lifetime crime flick Wisegal.
The original made-for-television movie, which premiered stateside last night, stars Milano as Patty Montanari, a widowed mother of three whose early brushes with a life in crime eventually lead her to enter a romantic and business relationship with Mafioso Frank Russo (Boomtown and Murder One’s Jason Gedrick, last seen on TV on Desperate Housewives).
Last Tuesday, Milano dropped by Live with Regis and Kelly to promote the movie and chat about other stuff, because you know both Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa love their small talk. Follow the jump to take a look at the two-part interview.
Milano looked as beautiful and acted as nice as ever, and you can catch her performance in Wisegal again tonight if you missed it yesterday, like I did. The movie repeats on basic cable’s Lifetime at 8pm EST.
Comedy Talk: Regis and Kelly Interview Patricia Heaton
February 26, 2008 by Chandra

To help push the return tonight of her Fox sitcom Back to You, two-time Emmy-winning star Patricia Heaton paid a visit to Live with Regis and Kelly this morning.
The interview got off to a great start with Patricia revealing that all four of her children — yes, she has four and still looks spectacular — are taller than she is, which isn’t necessarily a big deal since she’s only 5'2". That’s too bad for the young'uns, though, because although they’re only 9, 10, 12, and 14 years old, Patricia has a rule that once her kids are taller than her, they have to get a job.
After sharing two more anecdotes about her poor New York City days living in Hell’s Kitchen (she scored a gig that landed her in a hotel with oodles of “free” toiletry samples) and the joys of Korean baths (she highly recommends them), Patricia discusses the premise of Back to You. Thankfully, the clip she brought along indicates the sitcom still has its funny bone in place.
Check out the two-part footage (it wasn’t long — there was just a commercial break right in the middle) after the jump.
Comedy Talk: Faith Ford Visits Regis and Kelly
October 8, 2007 by Chandra

Tomorrow morning, beautiful Southern belle Faith Ford (Hope & Faith, The Norm Show, Murphy Brown) will drop by NBC’s Live With Regis and Kelly, where I’m sure she’ll discuss her new sitcom Carpoolers. Her latest comedy role is as the wife of series star Fred Goss’ character, who is consumed with learning just how much more money his spouse earns than he does at her successful real-estate job “flipping” property.
Catch Carpoolers Tuesdays on ABC at 8:30pm EST.
Comedy Talk: Jerry O’Connell, Alyssa Milano, and Patricia Heaton
October 1, 2007 by Chandra

Carpoolers star Jerry O’Connell is the man right now. He’ll be on Late Night with Conan O’Brien late tonight/early tomorrow at 12:37am EST, and then Live with Regis and Kelly just eight or so hours later.
Even better, forthcoming My Name Is Earl multi-episode guest star Alyssa Milano will also be chilling out with Regis and Kelly tomorrow morn.
Finally, Back to You and Everybody Loves Raymond fans can spend some quality chat time with leading funny-lady Patricia Heaton when she visits The Tonight Show with Jay Leno at 11:35pm EST tonight.
