Say Goodbye to ‘Lipstick Jungle’ Tonight
January 9, 2009 by Chandra

Unless something unexpected happens in coming weeks, it looks like tonight’s episode of the NBC dramedy Lipstick Jungle will be the series’ last.
Called “Chapter Twenty: La Vie En Pose,” the main gimmick, if you will, of the installment is Nico’s appearance on the NBC morning program the Today Show, right alongside real later-hour hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, who play themselves. The visit results from the magazine editor’s attempt to polish her professional image, but it ends up impacting her personal life negatively.

Elsehwere, Wendy gets major attitude from her teenage daughter Maddie while her husband Shane is away, and Victory encounters complications of her own when she plans a get-together for her new fiancé Joe and her much less affluent and urban parents.
Check out the final (as of now) episode of Lipstick Jungle tonight, January 9, at 9pm EST.

Lipstick Jungle: ‘Chapter Seven: Carpe Threesome’ Season Finale (3-20-08)
March 20, 2008 by Chandra

We have come to the end of the road, Lipstick Jungle followers, at least the one that marks the show’s journey through its writers strike-shortened freshman season. Yet, thanks to the loyalty of so many women in highly desired advertising demographics, NBC has ordered additional episodes of the series for the future.
That’s exceptionally good news for fans and an accomplishment that Jungle’s ABC rival Cashmere Mafia can’t currently claim. So, who’s the winner in the Sex and the City knock-off war right now?
On the first-season finale “Chapter Seven: Carpe Threesome,” Wendy must cope with an irritating screenwriter, Nico must deal with her husband Charles’ sudden health crisis, and Victory must handle a difficult situation that threatens to complicate her life in several ways.
The best part of saying a temporary farewell to this series with this installment is the excellent guest cast: four-time Oscar-nominated Goodbye Girl Marsha Mason and series star Kim Raver’s former Third Watch colleague Bobby Cannavale, who won an Emmy for playing Will’s longtime cop boyfriend Vince on Will & Grace. Fabulous — let’s go out with style!
Lipstick Jungle airs Thursdays on NBC at 10:01pm EST.

‘Lipstick Jungle’ Extended

Variety reports excellent news today for the ladies of the Lipstick Jungle. Based on strong Nielsen numbers, NBC has ordered an additional six episodes of the Thursday-night, Candace Bushnell dramedy starring Brooke Shields, Kim Raver, and Lindsay Price.
Each week during its 10pm–11pm time slot, Lipstick has led in the ratings among women aged 18 to 49 and women aged 18 to 34. This development means the series will now have the 13 episodes that were originally requested before the first season was shortened to just seven installments due to the writers strike. The new episodes will be for future airing, however, as the series will not shoot anymore episodes for the current season.

Lipstick Jungle: ‘Chapter Six: Take the High Road’ Spoilers (3-13-08)
February 22, 2008 by Chandra

Well, well, well. The ladies are definitely aiming for mass appeal on “Chapter Six: Take the High Road,” the March 13th episode of Lipstick Jungle. What else could possibly be cooking when the plot revolves around none other than ultra, mega, super popular author J.K. Rowling? It would be too cool if the Harry Potter creator makes an actual appearance.
The events in question involve Wendy and Nico, both of whom are tapped by their mutual boss Hector to travel to Scotland to meet with Rowling. Believing her girlfriend doesn’t want to go, Nico asks her loverboy Kirby to accompany her, which leads to an interesting outcome when Wendy does in fact decide to make the trip.
Victory also gets a surprise of her own when she learns a few things about a new investor in her business.
Lipstick Jungle airs Thursdays on NBC at 10:01pm EST.
Lipstick Jungle: ‘Chapter Five: Dressed to Kill’ Spoilers (3-6-08)
February 20, 2008 by Chandra

Goodness gracious, it’s about time!!!
On the March 6th episode of Lipstick Jungle, “Chapter Five: Dressed to Kill,” Victory finally realizes that her sneaky former assistant Reese stole her designs when she left to work for another designer. Seriously — how dense do you have to be to take that long to realize someone has removed invaluable property from your home?
Nico also rekindles her (sex) relationship with Kirby, and Wendy begins hyping a record demo featuring her husband Shane and his old band.
Writing of which, am I the only one who starts wishing Sci Fi Channel hadn’t up and canceled The Dresden Files every time Paul Blackthorne appears onscreen? I hate seeing him in a role where all he basically does is kiss Brooke Shields’ butt. Well, at least Jungle is better than his last gig, ABC’s Big Shots, even if that’s not saying much.
Lipstick Jungle airs Thursdays on NBC at 10:01pm EST.
Lipstick Jungle: ‘Chapter Four: Bombay Highway’ Spoilers (2-28-08)

As if the title doesn’t give it away, the February 28th episode of Lipstick Jungle, “Chapter Four: Bombay Highway,” revolves around India, or rather Wendy’s desire to promote a film set there. To achieve that goal successfully, she even allows Victory to design the starring actress’ outfit.
On the Nico side, the magazine editor finally comes out to her friends and reveals her torrid sex, er, love affair with Kirby. There’s also something going on with a lawsuit. But, since we haven’t reached that point in the story yet, it’s best not to reveal what it concerns.
Lipstick Jungle airs Thursdays on NBC at 10:01pm EST.
