The Big Bang Theory: 2.02 ‘The Codpiece Topology’ Recap

Original Air Date: September 29, 2008
This is yet another good episode for the boys and now two girls on The Big Bang Theory, largely because the second female regular, Sara Gilbert, reprises her role as Leslie Winkle in fine form.
The action begins with the guys returning from a Renaissance Fair, looking nerdier than ever in their medieval costumes and with Sheldon bitching continuously about how historically inaccurate everything was. While the group is on the landing outside Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment, Penny walks up with her new buff-looking “friend,” which immediately makes Leonard jealous.

The Big Bang Theory: 2.01 ‘The Bad Fish Paradigm’ Recap

Original Air Date: September 22, 2008
The Good: There’s definitely rough seas ahead in Leonard and Penny’s budding romantic relationship (and everybody knows nobody likes boring couples who never experience any tension).
The Bad: It’s not really a negative to me, but once again Sheldon is the center of attention, and Jim Parsons does a fine job making his (verbose and often highly technical and/or nerdy) one-liners zing.
The Bad Fish Paradigm: After spying on Penny and Leonard as they part after their first date on the landing outside their apartments, Howard and Rajesh conclude the couple’s new relationship is doomed. Leonard …read more

Bad Fish on ‘Big Bang’ in One Month

Exactly one month from today, on Monday, September 22, CBS’ hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory will return for its sophomore season.
The premiere, “The Bad Fish Paradigm,” sounds fun, with an embarrassing secret thrown in for good measure to stand in the way of Penny and Leonard’s ill-fated romance. Honestly — how many people really think they’re ever going to end up together? I don’t.
But the pair do go out on their first date during the episode, which turns out not so good (Shocker!). Fortunately for Penny, she soon learns that Sheldon is a perfect confidant, even …read more

The Big Bang Theory: 1.16 ‘The Peanut Reaction’ Recap

Original Air Date: May 12, 2008
This episode is all about Leonard’s birthday. When Penny learns his parents raised him without ever giving him a birthday party — they believed in celebrating achievements, not his passage through the birth canal — she becomes determined to throw him one.
Penny’s plans for a surprise party require Sheldon to buy a gift, an act the genius is initially opposed to since he approves of Leonard’s parents’ no-party mindset and respects Leonard’s claims that he doesn’t want a party; Howard to get Leonard out of the apartment long enough for the others to set …read more

Sheldon Dreams of Morlocks on ‘The Big Bang Theory’

On the last episode of The Big Bang Theory, “The Nerdvana Annihilation,” Leonard and his boys chipped in to buy an original time machine prop from the 1960 film classic The Time Machine.
None in the group was more excited about the geeky purchase than snobby Sheldon, who seemed to think his big brain was the only one large enough to grasp the full possibilities of owning such a unique piece of memorabilia.
It’s a safe bet his viewpoint changed drastically, though, after he experienced a series of episode-ending dreams, all featuring the infamous cannibalistic Morlock species from the classic H.G. Wells …read more

The Big Bang Theory: 1.14 ‘The Nerdvana Annihilation’ Recap

Original Air Date: April 28, 2008
LEONARD bids $800 online on what he thinks is a miniature time machine from the classic 1960 sci-fi movie The Time Machine. He doesn’t have the money to spend; he just wants to be a part of the action, and, unfortunately, he ends up being the only bidder.
Consequently, Leonard wins, and SHELDON, HOWARD, and RAJESH are nice enough (or nerdy enough) to chip in $200 each to help him cover the cost. The result is a time-share time-machine that they’ll swap among each other. When the purchase arrives, however, they finally realize …read more

The Big Bang Theory: ‘The Bat Jar Conjecture’ Spoilers (4-21-08)

Roseanne fans take note: Sara Gilbert returns as Leslie Winkle on the April 21 episode of The Big Bang Theory. The guys rely on her help when Sheldon acts like a pain in the butt during preparations for a big physics competition.
I just hope they can win without him on “The Bat Jar Conjecture” since there’s a big brain to go along with Sheldon’s really big ego. In other words, he’s definitely not all talk and no action.
The Big Bang Theory airs Mondays on CBS at 8pm EST.

The Big Bang Theory: ‘The Jerusalem Duality’ Spoilers (4-14-08)

The Big Bang Theory: ‘The Jerusalem Duality’ Spoilers (4-14-08)

The plot of the April 14 episode of The Big Bang Theory is just downright pitiful.
On “The Jerusalem Duality,” big, grown man Sheldon gets jealous of a wee little teenager named Dennis (Guest Star Austin Lee). Why? Because the kid’s brain is bigger than his, as if anybody can control such things.
To make matters worse, Sheldon then schemes to sabotage Dennis’ work, demonstrating once again why whiny Sheldon/Jim Parsons is the heart and soul and funny of this sitcom. Love him.
The Big Bang Theory airs Mondays on CBS at 8pm EST.
