It’s the ‘Flight of the Conchords’ Season Two Premiere!

December 17, 2008 by Chandra

Jemaine Clement/Flight of the ConchordsBret McKenzie/Flight of the ConchordsComedy website Funny or Die wasn’t kidding earlier this month when the news came out it would offer the entire second-season premiere of HBO’s Flight of the Conchords online, starting today.

The proof is in the video after the jump, so watch and enjoy an advance screening of New Zealand’s Grammy-winning comedy duo Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie in “A Good Opportunity.” It’s available at your convenience, until the Internet run ends this Sunday. Afterwards, you’ll have to wait to catch the episode when it debuts on television Sunday, January 18, in the show’s regular 10pm EST time slot.

An added bonus in the Web version is a preview for HBO’s forthcoming comedy series East Bound & Down, starring Danny McBride (Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express), which premieres on Sunday, February 15, at 10:30pm EST. Unfortunately, if you’re not located in the United States, you get bubkes right now. Sorry! Not my fault.

Follow the jump for the video (if you’re in the USA).

30 RockOn June 26, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences released the list of the Top Ten finalists in the comedy series category for the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The included shows are those that received the most votes from the Television Academy for outstanding comedy series. Five final nominees will be announced bright and early on Thursday morning, July 17.

Best Comedy Series Semifinalists

  • 30 Rock
  • Curb Your Enthusiasm
  • Entourage
  • Family Guy
  • Flight of the Conchords
  • The Office
  • Pushing Daisies
  • Two and a Half Men
  • Ugly Betty
  • Weeds

The biggest annoyance, at least from where I sit, is voters’ opinion that CBS’ Two and a Half Men belongs in the company of the other nine shows. Sure, it can be funny, but c’mon…

Comedy Talk: ‘Pushing Daisies’ Honcho Barry Sonnenfeld Chats

October 24, 2007 by Chandra

Comedy Talk
I’d bet cold hard cash that most people have never seen Pushing Daisies director Barry Sonnenfeld before, but they have seen at least one movie or TV project that he’s helmed. Men in Black, Men in Black II, Get Shorty, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, Karen Sisco, The Tick—these are just a few of the feature films and television series that Sonnenfeld has either directed or executive produced. Tonight, he’ll visit the host of the Late Show with David Letterman and hopefully share some of the secrets of his artistic vision.

Over on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, viewers will get a repeat of the June 19 episode that featured The Office’s Steve Carell, Samantha Who?’s Jennifer Esposito, and a performance by musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords, who also star in the HBO comedy series of the same name.

Carell’s got another chat gig coming up, as well. The actor has been absolutely everywhere this week, not only because of his main gig on NBC’s popular The Office, but also due to his latest movie, Dan in Real Life, which will reach U.S. theaters in wide release this Friday. Catch Carell yet again tomorrow morning as his promotional jaunt continues on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
