On June 26, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences released the list of the Top Ten finalists in the comedy series category for the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards.
The included shows are those that received the most votes from the Television Academy for outstanding comedy series. Five final nominees will be announced bright and early on Thursday morning, July 17.
Best Comedy Series Semifinalists
- 30 Rock
- Curb Your Enthusiasm
- Entourage
- Family Guy
- Flight of the Conchords
- The Office
- Pushing Daisies
- Two and a Half Men
- Ugly Betty
- Weeds
The biggest annoyance, at least from where I sit, is voters’ opinion that CBS’ Two and a Half Men belongs in the company of the other nine shows. Sure, it can be funny, but c’mon…

New Comedy DVDs This Week: Curb Your Enthusiasm
February 3, 2008 by Chandra

This week was a slow week for new comedy television DVD releases since only one boxed set came out on Tuesday, namely the sixth season of HBO’s wry Larry David series Curb Your Enthusiasm. The good part is the sixth season is the season that just ended last November, so if you’ve been planning to catch up on the show, all the episodes are now available for you to do just that.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: Sixth-Season Finale ‘The Bat Mitzvah’
November 12, 2007 by Chandra
Missed Sunday night’s sixth-season finale of HBO’s wry Larry David vehicle Curb Your Enthusiasm? Well, have I got good news for you! The cable network’s giving the installment an encore replay tonight at 9pm EST. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet, official or not, on whether the show will return for season number seven.

The Bat Mitzvah
In the Season Six finale, an upcoming Bat Mitzvah provides Larry with an opportunity to clear up his recent domestic travails—as well as some nasty rumors.
Cheryl Hines of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Visits Carson Daly

Heads up, fans of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. Late tonight/early Wednesday morning (at 1:36am EST on September 26, to be exact), talented series star Cheryl Hines will drop by to chat with the host of NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly. The native Floridian just turned forty-two years young on Friday, so maybe Carson will giver her a belated gift or a piece of cake or something…
Three Reasons to Watch the Sixth Season of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’
September 9, 2007 by Chandra

What’s in a plot? While the average viewer may have no clear idea, The Hollywood Reporter seems to believe that HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm has the various components down to perfection. In fact, the industry publication offers three reasons why viewers should not pass up the opportunity to watch the sixth season of the Larry David (Seinfeld) creation, which begins tonight at 10pm EST sharp. They are:
- It is the most perfectly plotted comedy on TV. At the end of the half-hour, all the seemingly random strands of story lines always manage to come together in a way you never expect.
- It is constantly funny. Not most of the time. Not with the right guest stars. Each and every episode.
- Who knows when you’ll see it again? Like a comet in the sky or the McRib sandwich at McDonald’s, it comes and goes without rhyme or reason. Maybe the mood will again strike creator and star Larry David and he’ll do another season. Maybe not. Even this one has just 10 episodes. Enjoy it while you can.
Sounds convincing to me. So, don’t forget to check out the sixth-season premiere of Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO tonight, if you feel inclined.
Given the title “Meet the Blacks” and Curb’s renowned frequent political incorrectness, astute fans can predict what the season premiere is all about. Yes, that’s right—David literally meets some black people when his wife Cheryl (Cheryl Hines of Waitress) convinces him to open their home to the African-American Black family, displaced following a disastrous hurricane. The new houseguests, who will remain in residence for several episodes this season, include Kill Bill star Vivica A. Fox.
