In the legal dramedy Eli Stone, English actor Jonny Lee Miller (Smith, The Flying Scotsman, Trainspotting, Hackers) plays the title character, a smart and successful attorney in his eighth year as an associate at the blue chip San Francisco law firm Wethersby, Posner & Klein.
Now engaged to partner Jordan Wethersby’s (Victor Garber of Alias) daughter and fellow attorney Taylor Wethersby (Natasha Henstridge of Species), Eli learns he has an inoperable brain aneurysm after he starts acting bizarrely one day out of the blue. His strange behavior mainly takes the form of hearing and seeing 1980s and 1990s British pop star George Michael at odd times and in odd places.
With the help of his older doctor brother Nathan (Matt Letscher of The New Adventures of Old Christine), Eli comes to realize that his potentially fatal condition is inherited from his dead father (Guest Star Tom Cavanaugh of Ed), an alcoholic he’s derided for years as a no-good drunk.
Although everyone looked down on his father because they didn’t understand his alcoholism stemmed from the very same type of hallucinations his son currently endures, when the truth comes out, Eli vows to turn his life around and become the kind of man his father thought he would be: strong, just, and a dedicated champion of worthy causes.
