‘Surviving Suburbia’ Is Over
August 9, 2009 by Chandra
Sorry, fans. ABC broke the bad news shortly after the rookie Bob Saget comedy Surviving Suburbia aired its first-season finale on August 7.
According to The Futon Critic, the network has decided to cancel both that sitcom and its fellow freshman comedy, the animated Mike Judge (King of the Hill) series The Goode Family.
It’s a Finale for ‘Surviving Suburbia’

I have no idea if it’s just a first-season finale or a series finale, but the new August 7 episode of ABC’s Bob Saget comedy Surviving Suburbia is the last of 13 episodes ordered for the current season.
During “No Reception,” Steve encourages his wife Anne to rebel against her parents after they use the cell phones the Pattersons gave them too much, I suppose by calling all of the time.
‘Surviving Suburbia’ Is Back … Again
June 12, 2009 by Chandra
Let’s just agree to call ABC’s rookie sitcom Surviving Suburbia the latest television series that refuses to die, no matter how much some people wish it would. Yes, Bob Saget’s current show is back again with more previously unaired episodes.
Up tonight (June 12) in the series’ new Fridays at 8pm ET time slot is “If the Shoe Fits, Steal It.” Steve (Saget) is busy being the resident grouch his neighbors know and loathe, until his young daughter Courtney’s shoes are stolen and he finds another way to behave distastefully. This particular time, he decides to blame the mother of one …read more
‘Surviving Suburbia’ Returns Tonight
May 27, 2009 by Chandra
It’s back already?! Apparently so, even if I was hoping it would take longer.
ABC’s Bob Saget sitcom Surviving Suburbia returns to the tube at 9:30pm ET tonight (May 27) on a new day, which is Wednesday for those not keeping track.
Although I’ll probably end up watching eventually more out of writer’s obligation rather than genuine interest (which explains why I’ve already seen every episode aired to date), I’m more keen to see the ratings for the “comedy” now that it doesn’t have a cushy Dancing with the Stars lead-in. If there’s any justice in the TV world, the …read more
ABC Scraps ‘Surviving Suburbia’ Til Summer
Thank you!
Variety reports that ABC has wisely pulled the unbelievably unfunny new Bob Saget “sitcom” Surviving Suburbia from its former Monday-night, post-Dancing with the Stars time slot, effective right now.
Although the series achieved better than decent ratings of 10 million viewers and above — due more than anything to the hit reality competition that served as its auspicious lead-in — it was causing the ratings for its far superior and infinitely more entertaining lead-out, Nathan Fillion’s rookie crime dramedy Castle, to tank like you would not believe.
So, thanks to somebody at ABC, viewers will now be able to enjoy Castle’s …read more
New ABC Sitcom: Surviving Suburbia
April 6, 2009 by Chandra
Bob Saget fans have something to look forward to tonight because his new sitcom, Surviving Suburbia, premieres on ABC in the 9:32pm ET, what-more-could-you-ask-for? post-Dancing with the Stars time slot.
For comparison, that’s the same time period that helped establish the first season of Samantha Who? as a hit, although the Christina Applegate comedy’s ratings have decreased substantially since it lost the top-rated lead-in.
Multi-camera Surviving Suburbia stars How I Met Your Mother and Full House’s Saget as suburb-dwelling married father of two Steve Patterson. His wife Anne is played by Men in Trees and Dead Like Me alumna Cynthia Stevenson.
