Well, well, well! The big winners in the comedy categories during last night’s 39th NAACP Image Awards ceremony were clearly TBS’ Tyler Perry’s House of Payne on the men’s side and CBS’ Ugly Betty on the women’s side.
Congratulations to the celebrated thespians, with an extra special shout-out for talented Vanessa Williams, who took home […]

Last night at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, who collectively comprise the New Zealand music and comedy duo Flight of the Conchords, won a shiny Best Comedy Album statuette for their efforts on the six-track EP release The Distant Future.

As previously posted, FOX Network will broadcast the 39th NAACP Image Awards live on Thursday, Valentine’s Day, at 8pm EST. Standup comic and actor D.L. Hughley is onboard to host the ceremony, which will honor one of the most diverse slate of nominees you’ll find on an awards show this year.
Not only are staples […]

Many people most associate actor D.L. Hughley with Aaron Sorkin’s much hyped and famously failed NBC drama from Fall 2006, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. But, long before Hughley appeared on that headline-making series, he was a very successful standup comic and sitcom star, and of a self-titled show at that. Of […]

The 14th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday were a big deal because the event happened to be the first entertainment awards ceremony this year that had the full approval of the striking Writers Guild of America. In other words, the stars were out in full force since they weren’t crossing a picket […]

When is the last time you sat through a three-hour televised awards ceremony that was only supposed to be two and didn’t […]

I just learned that CBS’ Two and a Half Men scored the statue and the glory for Favorite TV Comedy during Tuesday’s 34th Annual People’s Choice Awards.
The boys are without a doubt thrilled to have trumped fellow nominees The King of Queens and My Name Is Earl. Congrats.

I had no intention of watching the severely scaled-down 34th Annual People’s Choice Awards tonight, but I sort of stumbled upon the show since CBS is the only broadcast network in my area of New England that’s not airing wall-to-wall coverage of the New Hampshire primary right now. (ABC thankfully took a break at […]

The Writers Guild of America is definitely playing hardball when it comes to granting waivers for various organizations to use writers and archival clips for the purpose of producing the familiar cluster of annual awards shows that air around the beginning of the New Year.
Amid all the recent denials, however, there have been a few […]

Yet more awards news broke recently. On Thursday morning, the Screen Actors Guild announced the nominees for the 14th Annual SAG Awards, an event most notable because the winners are determined by the votes of actual actors.
Basic cable’s TBS and TNT networks will simultaneously broadcast the 2008 ceremony live from the Los Angeles Shrine […]
