Next on ‘How I Met Your Mother’: Double Date

September 28, 2009 by Chandra

Coming up on How I Met Your Mother on September 28 is the brand-new episode “Double Date.”

How I Met Your Mother

During the September 21 fifth-season premiere “Definitions,” Lily and her henchman, aka Marshall, nag Barney and Robin into admitting that they’ve been an informal couple for some time.

Still unsatisfied with their alleged casual hookup, Lily locks the lovers in Robin’s room one morning until they finish the relationship discussion and confess to being boyfriend and girlfriend. Of course, Barney and Robin think they’re getting over on Lily by just telling her what she wants to hear, and — of course — Lily knows better: she understands they really are boyfriend and girlfriend but don’t realize it yet.

Elsewhere, at his new Columbia University job, Ted spends almost the entire episode embarrassing himself in front of what he thinks are his first roomful of Architecture students. His insistence on ruling the lecture hall by not letting anyone ask questions makes it take that much longer for him to finally realize he’s in the wrong place.

While he’s busy boring the Economics crowd, his much smaller group of students are waiting in a cramped classroom in another building. Oops! But at least Ted confirms that the mother we’re all dying to meet is one of the Economics students.

During the next episode “Double Date,” Robin isn’t thrilled when Barney and Marshall have a boy’s night out, and Ted realizes that his blind date is a woman he went out with once before seven years ago and they still aren’t clicking. Incidentally, series star Alyson Hannigan doubles as a guest star playing the character Jasmine.

Since CBS hasn’t released a sneak peek for the latest episode of How I Met Your Mother, the following clip from the season premiere will have to do. Watch Ted realize his big boo-boo on the first day of his new job.

How I Met Your Mother airs Mondays on CBS at 8pm ET.
