George Lopez Late-Night Show Coming This Fall
July 29, 2009 by Chandra
Basic cable’s TBS made a fantastic announcement this week: comic and actor George Lopez has a new late-night show scheduled to premiere on the network in November 2009.

Fans will remember that Lopez was the star of the self-titled family sitcom George Lopez, which ran on ABC for a very respectable six seasons and 120 episodes from 2002 to 2007. Follow the jump to learn more about his latest TV project.
According to the network’s announcement, the forthcoming Lopez Tonight talk show will be a “high-energy” series with a “party atmosphere, live musical and comedy performances and celebrity appearances.” Sounds good so far.
The program will also have a “casual environment that invites guests to engage fully with the crowd, giving audience members the chance to interact with guests, ask questions and walk away feeling as though they’ve experienced something new.” Still sounding good to me.
The Los Angeles Times reports from the currently in-progress Television Critics Association press tour that Lopez joked about guests sitting on “plastic-wrapped furniture,” as well. The host-to-be also adds that segments will maintain an element of surprise and freshness by rotating, for instance, with the show sometime opening with a standup routine from him and other times with a guest chat.
Although Lopez’s goal is to achieve a “spontaneous party atmosphere that thrives on the energy of his guests and audience,” he’s especially (and understandably) proud of the fact that Lopez Tonight will make him television’s first late-night host of Latino heritage.
Go, George! I’ve always found Lopez funny and entertaining, so I’m looking forward to checking out his new gig when it premieres in November. Episodes are currently slated to air at 11pm ET on Monday through Thursday.

I like Lopez and I’m going to watch hope the talk show is as good as his sitcom. only thing why 11 and not 11:30 or 11:35 I know TBS doesn’t have news but most people would still like to watch their local news and then switch over to TBS
If Obama is a black president, then George Lopez must be a BROWN talk show host soon to be. Well, I actually don’t want to see him on TV because I know that he will be disrespectful to those respect-deserving people.
What have you done to the world moron head? Transmitting your bad breath through radio waves? Showing your moon crate face to torture TV viewers? fix yourself!
