‘The Office’ Is Going to the Super Bowl

The Office

NBC released the network’s midseason schedule on December 3, and it includes the news that The Office has been given the coveted post-Super Bowl slot when the football championship airs on February 1. Even better for the devoted, fans will get not just a mere half-hour of the comedy, but another of those increasingly common hourlong installments.

Says NBC head scheduler Mitch Metcalf: “The Office is a perfect fit for after the Super Bowl. It’s going to be a hilariously funny hour, and I think people will be in the mood to laugh after the big game.”

Congratulations to the cast and crew of the popular sitcom. However, am I wrong for wishing the honor had gone to one of the sophomore troopers Chuck or Life instead to give one of the woefully under-watched but fantastic series a better chance to recruit some deserved viewers? In my dreams…
