Showtime Gives ‘Californication’ a Third Season

December 3, 2008 by Chandra

David Duchovny/CalifornicationExcellent news came out today for fans of David Duchovny’s raunchy Showtime comedy Californication. The network has renewed the series for a third season of twelve episodes, which will begin shooting in the spring for a late 2009 premiere.

Calling the series an “unapologetic show” that has “quickly established itself as one of [Showtime's] signature comedy series,” entertainment president Robert Greenblatt proclaimed the cable network “wouldn’t be Showtime without a yearly dose of Californication.”

Now, how’s that for love? I’m betting Duchovny, a Best Actor Golden Globe winner for the series this year, was needing some of that kind right about now after his recent sex-addiction issues, too. Good for him and his fellow cast and crew members.

The second season of Californication currently airs Sundays on Showtime at 10pm EST, with the finale scheduled for December 14, less than two weeks away.
