The CW Friday-Night Comedy Lineup Starts Today!
October 3, 2008 by Chandra
The CW may only have two returning sitcoms on its slate right now, but the network is still determined to try something new. That’s why beginning tonight, October 3, fans of Everybody Hates Chris and The Game will get to start their weekend with two of their favorite comedies.
Is Friday night, long considered the place where primetime shows go to stagnate (until CBS’ success, perhaps), a good time to be airing sitcoms, especially on a low-ratings network like The CW? I don’t think so, but at least the strategy constitutes bold counterprogramming: If you’re into half-hour scripted comedies, the only place you’re going to find fresh episodes of the genre on Friday nights is The CW. I hope the network can pull this off.
The CW’s Friday-night comedy lineup airs from 8pm to 9pm EST. First up tonight at 8pm is “Everybody Hates Tattaglia,” the fourth-season premiere of Everybody Hates Chris, followed by The Game’s third-season premiere “Baby on Board” at 8:30pm. The shows will be followed by “Natural Beauty,” an encore of the latest new episode of America’s Next Top Model, the least compatible series in The CW’s stable.
