‘20/20’ Opens 31st Season with Alec Baldwin Interview

When ABC’s long-running primetime newsmagazine 20/20 begins its 31st season tonight, the premiere episode will feature an in-depth one-on-one interview with 30 Rock star and frequent newsmaker Alec Baldwin.
Series veteran Diane Sawyer does the deed, and after checking out a preview clip on ABC’s website, all I have to say is Baldwin and actress Kim Basinger’s 12-year-old daughter Ireland is a real cutie. However, I wish the network didn’t have her image featured so prominently in association with such public, ongoing nastiness like the custody dispute between her parents.
Since ABC is still in the Stone Age when it comes to Web 2.0 advances, there’s no embeddable code for its online videos, and I don’t have a clip to share. The gay marriage movement with the the many factors of (in MY anylitical mind) of who is male and who is female heading for divorce and (will ultimately end up in custody battles with kids in tow) , open a hummougous dad mom and who will carry the day issue .
As you so elequently tried to add to the mix in your 20 20 interview , men are entering the divorce/custody arena at an extreme disadvantage .
I have/was a mediator for Washington and Oregon counties and witnessed first hand that drama play out with the guy (usually) trying to gain ground in a ground lossing game .
Anyway , I thought I’d throw out this [IMO] VERY provacative angle for someone to maybe try to diseminate into a decent arguement to; “Why is the woman automatically favored the collector of kids in a separation ?
I’d bet a dollar that Alec would consider this opinion something to add to his arsenal .

I’m a step-mother who has watched her husband go through hell as he tries to have a relationship with his daughter. It’s amazing and rediculous … what the courts put these guys through… and all because they love their children. Talk about child abuse! This is the worse kind! I used to watch my step-daughter cry every time it was time to take her home from her court appointed visits with her father. After pills, hyptnotism, and a mother standing over her forcing her to sign a paper saying she doesn’t want to see him until she’s 18…. the allienation finally took hold. Their father-daughter relationship was so strong that it took a lot to break it apart. I’m thankful for Alec Baldwin… who is a public figure who can get this word out. Nobody listens otherwise. THIS NEEDS TO GET OUT!!!!!!
