Katie Holmes Coming to ‘Eli Stone’

Gucci Hosts Reception To Benefit UNICEF

…for one episode, that is, at least for now.

ABC released the news today that Dawson’s Creek alumna Katie Holmes will make a guest-star appearance on the second season of its quaint dramedy Eli Stone. According to the network, she’ll play a non-profit attorney on an installment currently called “Grace.”

Although some Interneters are characterizing this development as so-called stunt casting, I couldn’t disagree more. Unlike your average Spears walking disaster or Hilton celebutante, Holmes can actually act — very well — and has done so in a number of entertaining and worthwhile projects. I’m specifically thinking of movies like Mad Money and The Gift, which I enjoyed, even if they weren’t blockbusters or critical darlings.

Welcome aboard, Katie!

3 opinions for Katie Holmes Coming to ‘Eli Stone’

I don’t know if having Katie Holmes on the show is stunt casting or not. She can act but you know she was brought in to bring in more viewers so I don’t know if that is considered stunt casting or not. It doesn’t matter if it is stunt casting or not in my opinion. I will be happy if it gets more people to watch Eli Stone. Every episode Eli Stone got better and right now it is actually one of the best shows on TV. It is also one of my most anticipated shows of the upcoming season.
