‘Dark Knight’ Giveaway: Win a Batman Necklace from Nomination

by Chandra on July 14th, 2008

The Dark Knight

Starting today, Comedy Centric is hosting a spectacular giveaway in honor of this Friday’s hotly anticipated U.S. premiere of The Dark Knight, the next entry in the Batman film saga.

Thanks to the generosity of renowned Italian jewelers Nomination, I have one stunning stainless steel necklace finished with a gorgeous, gleaming Batman pendant to give to one lucky winner.

Nomination, creators of the original composable link bracelet — also known as the Italian Charm Bracelet — and a worldwide leader in the steel and gold jewelry market, have created two eight-piece stainless steel collections inspired by DC Comics’ legendary Batman™ and Superman™ characters.

The collection of elegant female, male, and unisex pieces consists of pendant necklaces, charm bracelets, drop earrings, and “must-have” items, such as accessories for handbags and jeans, to be worn day or night. Both collections are sexy, funky, and versatile, with a fusion of style and iconic design.

Following in the company’s tradition of crafting beautiful yet durable pieces, the Batman necklace with mixed chains featured as the prize for this giveaway is made of stainless steel that guarantees a lifetime of tarnish-free wear. The retail value of the necklace is $115.00 USD, and it can also be purchased at the online Nomination Store.

In keeping with the giveaway’s superhero theme, all you have to do to enter for your chance to win is leave a comment on this post explaining the most courageous thing you have ever done. Make sure to also use a valid email address when commenting so I’ll have no trouble reaching you if you’re the winner.

The giveaway is open to residents of the United States and Canada only, and the entry deadline is Monday, July 28, at 11:59pm EST. I’ll randomly select one winner after the entry deadline and then contact that person for their mailing address. Please, only one entry per person.

I’m really eager to read everyone’s astounding tales of adventure and/or good deeds, so Good Luck!

This may sound silly to others, but I kissed the Blarney Stone. I have some fear of heights and turning upside down from the top of a castle was really scary, but I was determined to do it and did.

I was hit twice by 2 different waves and the riptide carried me off and thought I was going to die…wish I knew what they are telling now. I was a very good under the water swimmer so I waited til it calmed but thank God I was turned the right way to swim to the shore. I have to say I did have troubles keeping my bathing suit on and really do not know what it looked like when I finally reached shore. ;-) Thanks.

I chaperoned several field trips when my son was young, always had a group of boys to watch and we went on some dangerous ones like a quarry where they actually gave them hammers and let them whack away at rocks. I’m happy to say everyone survived. Thank you for the cool contest!

I was having spine surgery, they kept me awake, and I started feeling them putting stitches in my back and asked my doctors to numb me, because I could feel what they were doing. They told me, if they gave me more medicine, that it would stop my heart. They said I only had 5 more stitches to get through. I counted 55 more stitches. Needless to say I got through all of them, but I have to say I really don’t know how, I had the courage to do it. It was one of the hardest things I had to tell my mind and body, to overcome the immense pain. I did it and I am a survivor.

The most courageous (or stupid!) thing I have ever done is that I tried to chase down a couple of guys who snatched my Mom’s purse. I am now a firm believer in “temporary insanity” because I know that is probably the stupidest thing I’ve ever done, but I just reacted without thinking. I guess I’m probably lucky I didn’t catch them :) but I sure tried!

The most courageous thing I have done is swim after a young girl who was drowning in a local river. I was able to quickly grab her and bring her to shore, and thankfully she was alright. I was glad that I was able to get her so quickly, and all turned out well! She is now grown-up, married and has a child! :-)

The most couragous thing I ever did was blindly running into a flooded river to pull a lady and three of her children out of thier car. She said she didn’t even see that the water was raging until it was too late. She was petrified and screaming for anyone to help, so as others sat here and did nothing I reacted without so much as thinking about what may happen and went in to pull them out of the car.

This may sound strange, but I believe the most heroic thing I have ever done was too love my daughter enough to let her leave our city and move out on her own to go to school.

Wow-thats a lot to think over. I was on a airboat ride in the Everglades. I was around 15. There was me, my pretend cousin (you know we all have one), a Father and 4 year old Daughter and the driver. He made a sharp turn and we sank into the murky water below. Someone yelled out from the shore “Theres water moccasins (snakes) and alligators in there”. After I heard that they said that I swam like Tarzan to shore! And I have not been on a airboat since.

Once, while on our way to a grocery store, a friend and I saw that a shrub next to an appartment comlex was on fire. We pulled in the parking lot and knocked on the closest door to the fire but no one was home. By the time we roused the closest neighbors the side of the building had begun to catch on fire so while he called 911 my friend and I went door to door telling everyone about the fire and suggesting that they get out since we didnt know how quickly it would spread. The fire department managed to put it out with damage to only the one unit (and the side of the building)but i would have to say that was still the most courageous thing I’ve ever done.

I owed My Mom a Safe place to rest and retire as she took care of me as a Child and I wouldn’t in Life ever let her be in a Hospital nor a Rest Home, I Promised.

Wow! There are a lot of courageous people on here. I can’t believe all the people who have saved someone from drowning. Makes me want to do a radio show and interview the common man on the street. You just never know who is really out there and what they are made of.

And all those people battling abusers and so forth - way to go.

Me? I pushed out a 10 pound baby - no epidural. It’s not like I had a lot of choice, though. I mean once he’s in the birth canal he ain’t going back. But I’m a little person to have such a big baby. I had planned on 4 kids, but after that one I said, I think two will do!

Thanks for the giveaway. We all love Batman.

When I was 16 years old, I was confronted by a serial killer. He physically pushed me and tried to intimidate me. I stood my ground and he backed off and left me alone. As he was walking away, he was still staring at me, still trying to intimidate me. Two months later, he was arrested for killing 5+ people. It made national news.

This isn’t quite the last story, but it’s all I have. I was on a busy highway and there was a dead cat in the road. She was a mother cat that had been carrying her kittens across the road. There were 2 kittens confused and walking around the road and another sitting there (she had been the one int he mother’s mouth when she got hit). I stopped the car and avoided traffic while getting all the kittens out of the road. I got all three of them. Unfortunately the one she was carrying died that night, but I still have the other two. Considering I am allergic to cats, I am proud of the rescue.

I had a bank teller deposit $5,000 instead of $500 into my bank account. When I went back to the bank to tell them of their mistake, they told me the deposit was not a mistake. I spent 30 minutes convincing someone it wasn’t my money. It took alot of courage to walk away from that money. I believe in karma and keeping the money would have been BAD karma.

In the past year my parents got divorced.
my dad left to a different state, and my mom had to take care of 5 kids by herself.
My mom also had to work though, causing me to spend most of my summer caring for my little sisters and brothers. My mom couldnt support us, so i had to go stay with another family. i stayed with this family with my little sister who is 3, for about 7 months. (my other siblings stayed with other families) I am now living with my dad in a small apartment, and my other 4 siblings are staying with my grandpa. I haven’t seen my mom for a while. Ive moved alot in my life but i have always been with my parents and siblings, but now were all split apart. A couple days ago my dad took my little brother and I to see The Dark Knight. It was so amazing. The Dark Knight is now my favorite movie. although im sad Heath Ledger died. I cannot wait untill the next batman movie! hopefully i will be able to see it.

well thanks alot for your time!

The most courageous thing I have ever participated in would be the every day adventure that is life.

Everyday I am faced with the same task that I’ve presented for myself….To say always be optimistic no matter what may come my way.

It’s a hard battle to always keep a smile on your face even through the toughest days…But, I’m proud to say I’m inspiring not just myself to see life through virgin eyes…But also people around me have begun to appreciate life more and not be so cynical.

I might not be able to change the world, but I can at least put a dent in it towards a better future!

I helped my dad so he could die from cancer in peace. When he was coming home to die I moved a sleeper couch by myself (5 ft nothing and 110 soaking wet) to make room for a hospital bed. I told him what was going on when he lost his sight, and held his hand through his dieing moments. When he knew he was coming home for his last weekend he told me he was proud of me and he loved me, and that last hug he gave me made me feel like a hero, even though I was losing mine.

The most courageous thing I ever did was also probably the most stupid thing I ever did. Thank heavens everything turned out okay. God bless youth. As a 12-year-old I heard a man crying for help and rescued him. He told my parents what a great kid I was; and, my startled parents told me I was a kid and that I exercised bad judgement . . . that I was too young and inexperienced a swimmer. They were obviously shaken; but, they were glad I survived.

Threw myself (literally, one of those diving jumps where you have to hope for something soft to land on, ’cause you’ve given it all you’ve got in order to GET THERE) at a co-worker who unthinkingly stood up in a place with heavy machinery spinning over our heads, with large metal enclosures hanging down into right-at-head-height… It was a case of “looked up, realized ‘what an idiot, he’s going to get killed’, and found myself diving” almost without thinking about it… After the fact, as much as anything it was a matter of “I don’t want the memory of seeing what is about to happen”…

This is something I don’t talk about or try to think about much because it still is way to scary for me, but almost 2 years when I was vacationing in Tampa, FL some friends and I were at this Blues Club on the borderline of a not so good area. I went out to our car to get my cell phone which I had left in there, and I was “attacked” by 2 guys. They didn’t sexually assault me, one just grabbed my purse and the other knocked me in the head twice and then they took off! In spite of the fact that I was hurt and shocked, I ran 4 blocks chasing them until I couldn’t run anymore. Apparently someone had seen all this transpire because as I was trying to walk back to the club, the police pulled up next to me to help me and take my report on what had happened. I had a gash on my head from whatever I was hit with, and I never to this day have any clue what happened to my purse or the contents in it. But, the one things I learned from this is that I am a fighter, I chased them and god only knows what I would have done if I had actually caught up with one of them, but the adrenalin rush that came over me was something I won’t ever forget! Thanks for letting me share my story! Thank you for offering this amazing giveaway from Nomination. What a great keepsake this would be for me to remind me I do have the strength and power within me to fight back!

When my mother tried to run into traffic in a suicide attempt , I ran after her and stopped her. After that I got into the car to drive back home with her driving because I didn’t have a license at the time (which was either really brave or really dumb) during which she threatened to drive off of the bridge.
