‘Rescue Me’ Minisodes Will Crackle You Up
Any Denis Leary and/or Rescue Me fans out there? If so, FX has been cooking up a little something new just for you and me.
Beginning June 24, the basic-cable network will premiere ten original, standalone minisodes of the New York City firefighter dramedy both on television and online at numerous video-sharing websites.
The five-minute masterpieces will focus on more casual and comedic material starring Leary and the rest of the show’s talented regular ensemble cast: Adam Ferrara, Michael Lombardi, Steven Pasquale, Andrea Roth, John Scurti, Daniel Sunjata, and Callie Thorne. Installments will first debut on FX’s television network and will then become available online the next day. There’s also a plan to make the content accessible via cellphone through Sprint TV.
According to FX Networks President and General Manager John Landgraf, “[t]hese minisodes are hysterical and will provide fans the opportunity to enjoy the characters they have come to love. The minisodes are designed to keep the series top-of-mind in preparation for next season’s 22 consecutive episodes, which will be an unprecedented single-season run of a scripted series on basic cable.”
In other words, the new material is quality filler meant to calm fan unrest and help viewers maintain interest in the series during the atypical summer lull devoid of new episodes. Sounds good to me. So, mark your calendar and try not to forget to check out the minisodes on the small screen or at any of the following Web destinations starting at the end of June:
