Movie Moment: Will ‘Baby Mama’ Deliver?

Who can predict these unpredictable things? Still, we’ll all get the opportunity to see if 30 Rock’s Tina Fey and her old Saturday Night Live/Weekend Update colleague Amy Poehler have what it takes to succeed on the big screen with this Friday’s release Baby Mama.
The film stars Fey and Poehler as expectant mother and surrogate, respectively. Their worlds collide when Fey’s successful but single businesswoman character, 37-year-old Kate Holbrook, learns the odds are really, really, really against her ever conceiving a child naturally.
Thankfully, Sigourney Weaver’s Chaffee Bicknell, the no-nonsense head of a surrogacy center, shows up to save the day with one Angie Ostrowiski, the South Philly woman played by Poehler who agrees to carry a baby to term for Holbrook.
That would be nice, if only the polar-opposite women didn’t end up living together in Holbrook’s apartment when Ostrowiski becomes homeless. If you’re a true TV comedy fan, think Oscar and Felix or Monk and Stottlemeyer. Say no more, right?
Other familiar faces in this movie absolutely loaded with funny people include Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine, As Good As It Gets), Dax Shepard (Zathura: A Space Adventure, Punk’d), Romany Malco (Weeds, The 40 Year Old Virgin), Maura Tierney (ER, NewsRadio), and Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men, The L Word).
Jill Messick and Louise Rosner executive produce and Lorne Michaels and John Goldwyn produce the feature written and directed by Michael McCullers (Austin Powers in Goldmember, Undercover Brother, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me).
I received a few stills from the flick to share with readers. Check them out after the jump, as well as the Baby Mama trailer.

I love Tina Fey! And the preview looks hysterical.
