Comedy Talk: ‘Office’ Co-Star Kate Flannery Visits Ferguson

Actress Kate Flannery, who has played funny drunk Meredith Palmer on the NBC sitcom The Office since the very first days of the series, appeared on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in mid March.
It turns out that not only does Flannery’s family own a bar in real life that’s been under their control for generations (which makes the alcohol connection on The Office much more believable now that I know), but the actress had already met host Ferguson before because she was his waitress at a restaurant she used to work in. Talk about coincidences.
Take a look at the nice, casual interview after the jump and see a side of Meredith we don’t usually get to witness around Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch — her fully alert and sober. She’s really quite charming that way, although I like her just fine hammered, too.

I love this character so much! She just makes me giggle, I love how the character is so unapologetic about being hammered.
P.S. Very weird coincidence about her meeting Craig Ferguson when she was a waitress!

She’s one of my favorites, too, Cherie. Just looking at Meredith looking at everybody else like they’re the ones who are drunk cracks me up every time.
I was really thrilled to see Kate out of character, too — she seems like a great person to hang out with.
