‘Pushing Daisies’ Star Kristin Chenoweth Has a Date with the Oscars

If you’re a Pushing Daisies fan, make sure to tune in to the 80th Academy Awards this Sunday to catch series star Kristin Chenoweth. The 39-year-old actress is a Broadway veteran with a prestigious Tony Award under her belt for her performance in Wicked, and now she’s taking on a song she had to learn just a few weeks ago.
The tune comes from the film Enchanted, which has an impressive three original songs up for an Oscar, all written and composed by the team of Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz: “Happy Working Song,” “So Close,” and “That’s How You Know.” The two musicians know Chenoweth from her stage career, and she’s set to perform the third selection with singer Marlon Saunders.
Speaking to the Associated Press, Chenoweth reveals she’s nervous about this weekend because the gig will be the largest audience she’s ever had to perform in front of before: “I’ve played many of the famous concert halls in the world but this is something altogether different. I’m just going to try to perform the song and make it about the music and not get too nervous.”
I have a feeling she’s going to do great.
The Academy Awards ceremony airs February 24th on ABC at 8:30pm EST. Of course, that’s not to mention the tons of related specials that other networks and ABC will broadcast before, during, and after the big event.
