‘Rules of Engagement’ Star David Spade Talks Babies, Babes, and Other Stuff
The Palm Springs, California, publication The Desert Sun recently posted a revealing interview with famously snarky standup comic and Rules of Engagement star David Spade. He’s out West keeping busy during downtime on his CBS sitcom by performing comedy onstage and staying his typical sarcastic self.
After reading the interview, I thought I’d share a few things I bet many people don’t know about the 43-year-old actor. Heck, I didn’t even know all of them myself.
Five Fun David Spade Facts
- Spade likes working on a sitcom because the rigorous filming schedule provides needed structure. Somehow I would have thought just the opposite because he seems like a poster child for ADD to me.
- Spade will be a first-time daddy later this year, which isn’t that surprising since it’s common knowledge he gets more than his fair share of gorgeous women.
- There was a warrant out for Spade’s arrest in Arizona, where he was a wanted man for the offense of reckless … wait for it … jet skiing!
- Spade’s baby momma is 22-year-old Playboy Playmate Jillian Grace, who he claims he doesn’t intend to marry. Whatever. If I were a guy, I’d probably only be wondering what I’m doing wrong that Spade is obviously doing so right.
- Spade is a comedy writer — really — and he got his start picking up the pen during his Saturday Night Live days in the early to mid 1990s. If you don’t believe it, check out the parody There Will Be Oscars after the jump that he wrote back when it seemed like the writers strike might sideline this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. Spade is sending up There Will Be Blood Best Actor nominee Daniel Day Lewis in a performance that many agree is spot-on and damn funny, especially if you’ve seen the Oscar-worthy flick.

If he were the ADD poster child, that wouldn’t rule out liking a structured environment; many of us LIKE a structured environment precisely because we have so much trouble structuring things on our own.

Thanks for the clarification, Andrea.
I was speaking more about what I would think Spade’s preferences would be specifically as an entertainer, not people who suffer from ADD in general.
