Comedy Nominees for the 39th NAACP Image Awards
As previously posted, FOX Network will broadcast the 39th NAACP Image Awards live on Thursday, Valentine’s Day, at 8pm EST. Standup comic and actor D.L. Hughley is onboard to host the ceremony, which will honor one of the most diverse slate of nominees you’ll find on an awards show this year.
Not only are staples like 30 Rock, The Office, and Ugly Betty represented — heck, even Angelina Jolie is up for an Outstanding Actress award for her performance in the based-on-fact feature film A Mighty Heart — but due props are given to less promoted series on less prominent networks, as well, such as The CW’s Everybody Hates Chris and Girlfriends and TBS’ Tyler Perry production House of Payne.
And, how can you argue with an organization that doesn’t overlook the genius of oft-overlooked Donald Faison on Scrubs or Tichina Arnold on Chris? Even Blair Underwood gets a nomination for his recurring role as hot teacher Daniel Harris on The New Adventures of Old Christine. Very, very nice.
