‘10 Items or Less’ Opens Second Season Tonight
January 15, 2008 by Chandra

There’s plenty of fresh comedy to catch on the tube this winter, especially if you’re willing to take a trip to the basic-cable side. For instance, tonight at 11pm EST, the second season of quirky 10 Items or Less begins on TBS.
The sitcom revolves around Ohio’s Greens & Grains, a grocery store that central character Leslie Pool (John Lehr) inherits after his father passes away. With a staff that sports some of television’s oddest personalities, Pool’s business is often host to bizarrely mundane events that lead to equally funny situations.
Employees include goofy stockboy Carl (Bob Clendenin), who has a crush on brash produce girl Yolanda (Roberta Valderrama); quiet customer-service representative Ingrid (Kirsten Gronfield), who has a crush on manly butcher Todd (Chris Payne Gilbert); cashier and aspiring professional ice dancer Richard (Christopher Liam Moore); and ambitious bagger Buck (Greg Davis Jr.).
The wrench in the mix is one Amy Anderson (Jennifer Elise Cox), the owner of the nearby rival retail establishment SuperValueMart who wants nothing more in this world than to get rid of every employee at Greens & Grains in order to turn the property into a parking lot. Yes, a parking lot.
On tonight’s second-season premiere “Dollar Day Afternoon,” the entire Greens & Grains staff is held hostage after a couple of money-hungry thieves learn Leslie is sitting on a pile of loot in the store during a gimmicky promotional giveaway.
