‘The Return of Jezebel James’ Rookie Season Shortened

This weekend brought bad news for those individuals anticipating the Fox sitcom The Return of Jezebel James. The network has reduced its order for the midseason series from an original thirteen episodes to just seven.
Friday, a network executive stated, “We have always planned to launch ‘The Return of Jezebel James’ in midseason, and seven episodes are all we need to allow us to program the series through the current broadcast season. We are big fans of Amy Sherman-Palladino, Dan Palladino and the extremely talented cast and are looking forward to airing the show.”
What a downer. And, of course, Fox execs are big Jezebel James fans, just like they were big Drive fans, big Firefly fans, big Andy Richter Controls the Universe fans, and so on and so forth.
The Return of Jezebel James, which hails from Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, is about two sisters who have nothing in common until the youngest, Coco (Six Feet Under’s Lauren Ambrose), considers carrying a child to term for her older sister Sarah (Boston Legal’s Parker Posey), a successful children’s book editor who’s unable to have kids herself. The series also stars Michael Arden, Scott Cohen, Ron McLarty, and Dianne Wiest.
