Things take a literal turn for the worse when a license-less Chris (Tyler James Williams) volunteers to move his dad’s (Terry Crews) car, but finds himself driving the car all the way to school as a result of trying to impress Tasha (Paige Hurd).

Meanwhile, Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) spends an interesting day at traffic court with Drew (Tequan Richmond) and Tonya (Imani Hakim).

When Franny (Amy Pietz) insists that Raja (Adhir Kalyan) join Justin’s (Dan Byrd) after-school Rocket Club, Justin is forced to let Raja in on the secret that no such club exists; it was simply an excuse for Justin to get away from Franny’s constant supervision and have some time with his buddies. Horrified that Justin and his friends would lie, Raja decides to build a rocket anyway, but when he tries to purchase the necessary parts, he is taken into custody as a suspected terrorist.

Meanwhile, Claire (Lindsey Shaw) discovers that cheerleader tryouts are more challenging that she expected.

When Lynn (Persia White) meets Xander (guest star Quddus Phillipe), a cute student at UCLA, he asks her to perform at a rally raising awareness to save the environment. But when Lynn’s manager gets her a gig at the House of Blues for the same day, she must decide where she will perform.

Meanwhile, Maya (Golden Brooks) gets upset when she hears Jabari (Kendre Berry) use the “b” word, and Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross) enlists William’s (Reggie Hayes) help when she hears strange noises coming from her crawlspace.

LIVING WITH MAMA

When Malik (Hosea Chanchez) brings Renee (guest star Kendra Johnson) to his house for the first time for a romantic rendezvous, Renee is shocked to find out he lives with his mother. Renee tells Malik that she cannot have sex in the same house he shares with his mother. Looking for advice, Malik asks Melanie (Tia Mowry) her thoughts on the situation, which leads to Malik telling Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson) that they need to change their living arrangements.

Meanwhile, Jason (Coby Bell) decides to win his new coach over by hosting the team’s bible study at his house, even though he hasn’t been inside a church in the last 20 years.
