‘Girlfriends’ Eighth-Season Premiere: Range of Emotions

Fans of The CW’s Girlfriends are in for a treat tonight because not only does the series return at 9pm EST for an astounding eighth season (surviving that many years on UPN first and now The CW is nothing less than a miracle), but the premiere is directed by none other than dance diva and awesome actress Debbie Allen. Woot!
At the close of the seventh season, Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross) received a surprise engagement party from her cutie-pie boyfriend Aaron (Judging Amy’s Richard T. Jones), Maya (Golden Brooks) learned of her pregnancy, and Lynn (Persia White) was engrossed in her music career.
Next on “Range of Emotions”:

Later, after Joan and Aaron stop arguing, he receives news that his National Guard unit is being called to Iraq. Meanwhile, Lynn (Persia White) is enjoying her newfound success with her music career and begins to flaunt it.

Your enthusiasm is infectious, Angela! And you’re right. “Girlfriends” is a gem, which is a large part of why the show has lasted so many seasons.
As for Jill Marie Jones, who played Toni–I somehow get the feeling she won’t be back, at least not anytime soon. She’s making feature films right now and seems to be having a lot of success with it.
