Is Molly Shannon Joining ‘Pushing Daisies’?
Who is coming up with these fantastic casting coups on so many TV shows this season? And is it really possible that feisty, funny Molly Shannon will be appearing on ABC’s deservedly hyped dramatic amalgam Pushing Daisies? Well, if you believe everything that TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello writes (and why wouldn’t you?), the answer is a deafening, “Yesiree!”
In a late-night post yesterday, Ausiello reports that multiple sources have told him the former Saturday Night Live one-woman laugh factory has signed off on several Daisies episodes that will begin airing in November.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that the delightfully kooky ex-SNL cutup will play Silly Balsam, the owner of a salt-water taffy emporium that just so happens to set up shop across the street from the Pie Hole. She’s slated to first show up during November sweeps.
Silly Balsam? What an awesomely unique name perfectly befitting one of the most talented actress-comediennes in showbiz. I C-A-N-N-O-T W-A-I-T!
