2007 Best Comedy Supporting Actress Emmy: Jaime Pressly, ‘My Name Is Earl’

Although I was rooting for Ugly Betty’s Vanessa Williams to walk away with the statuette this year, I am still thrilled for my girl Jaime Pressly, who finally got what she deserved after getting totally robbed last time around following her first Outstanding Supporting Actress comedy nomination. As I observed back then, nobody else could possibly bring Joy to the world like Pressly does in My Name Is Earl, and this is the perfect time for her hard work to receive official recognition—as she acknowledged in her acceptance speech, she just had a son four months ago with fiancé Eric Cubiche.
Pressly became so emotional during her speech that she forgot what she had planned beforehand to say. She did fine improvising all the same, like the true pro everyone knows she is.
I had something really cute and funny that [series creator and writer] Greg Garcia, my amazing creator, wrote for me to say, and I have no idea for the first time what the line he wrote for me was. I always remember his lines.
Greg Garcia, thank you, thank you, thank you for this amazing opportunity to work with the best of the best in television. I want to thank my crew and the writers and the most brilliant cast of people I could ever possibly dream to work with: Jason Lee, Ethan Supplee, and Eddie Steeples. You all— Nadine, you’re all … you’re geniuses.
My wonderful fiancé, Eric, thank you for all the support and for that amazing little boy, Desi James, who’s waiting for us; the best thing’s that’s ever happened to me.
And to my manager and my lawyer who have been with me from day one, for thirteen years—here’s to our little engine that could, that finally did.
