A Second Season of ‘Californication’ Is Out There

Fox Mulder, I mean David Duchovny must be thrilled. That’s because Showtime—sage premium-cable network that it is—has awarded his half-hour, very adult new comedy Californication a prized second season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pickup is for another twelve episodes to match the twelve in the current debut season, and they will probably air next summer.
Duchovny is also an executive producer of the single-camera series, which follows the exploits of one Hank Moody, a cynical, self-hating, sex-addicted (and some viewers say downright repulsive and unfunny) writer forced to handle challenging relationships with his ex-girlfriend Karen (Ronin and Solaris’ Natascha McElhone) and their precocious twelve-year-old daughter Becca (Madeleine Martin of JoJo’s Circus) while also attempting—largely unsuccessfully—to get his life back on track to they way it “used to be.” Evan Handler (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Sex and the City) and Madeline Zima (The Nanny, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle) co-star, as well.
Californication’s first-season finale will air Monday, October 29, at 10:30pm EST.
