‘Sopranos’ Star Edie Falco Has a Date with ‘30 Rock’

In yet more sitcom casting news—this has been a very busy day—NBC Universal announced another new addition to a popular NBC comedy earlier today. This time it’s three-time Emmy-winning Sopranos star Edie Falco who’s tapped for a fall guest-star turn, on Tina Fey’s acclaimed 30 Rock, no less. Falco seems duly excited about her first television role since HBO’s The Sopranos closed shop in June, as evidenced in her comment, “I have laughed out loud at this show, and I am thrilled for the opportunity to work with such great comic actors.”
And she’s not the only one psyched about the casting coup. After confirming her enthusiasm for Falco’s forthcoming appearances, series star and creator Fey quipped, “Also, a lot of guys on our crew want The Sopranos’ ending explained to them.” I bet.
Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, and Television Critics Association Award winner Alec Baldwin, who plays my favorite 30 Rock character, network bossman Jack Donaghy, added, “Obviously, it’s a very exciting thing for all of us to have Edie come on the show. This is just another great example of how fun and how exciting the casting of our show has been.” I’ll say.
Falco is now in the good company of Jerry Seinfeld, previously snagged to appear in 30 Rock’s second-season premiere, as well as last season’s notable guest stars Will Arnett, Sherri Shepherd, and Rip Torn, who will all reprise their roles in future episodes.
30 Rock’s second-season premiere is slated for Thursday, October 4.
