Sitcom Slate for Fall 2007

Well, here it is. It looks like the forthcoming fall season will be good times for sitcom lovers, despite the fact that there are fewer shows of that ilk airing on U.S. television these days. While some have lamented the slew of supernatural- and sci-fi-tinged series heading our way as a result of Heroes’ phenomenal success on NBC last season, and ABC’s Lost before that, any talk about this change in programming direction coming at the expense of situation comedies seems a bit hasty, especially in terms of the roster below.

Could networks stand to make room for more comedies? Of course—there should always be room for more shows of one’s favorite genre. Nonetheless, people who like to laugh during primetime will have many options starting later this month.

Note: Dates represent series or season premieres, all times are p.m. and Eastern Standard Time, and there are a few hour-long dramedies* of note thrown in for good measure…
